Helping Teachers Inspire Learners

December Ideas – Ready to GO!

Spread the love

Here comes December! It’s that wonderfully festive time of year that is so exciting for many of us; especially the children! Our students will love all of the things we have planned for them

The biggest challenge for any teacher is to make sure that the planning is organized so that students are focussed and learning is continuing while it frees you as the teacher up to prepare the other fun things that students will be a part of this season.

I just LOVE Christmas and this set will help your primary students learn Literacy and Math skills in meaningful ways and the BEST thing is that there is absolutely NO PREP!

This set can be used as morning work, as part of your Language Arts time or for your  centers work or Daily 5.

Teaching Children about Christmas Celebrations around the World is very popular because not only is it fun for students, many of our students in our classrooms come from all over the world. Why not celebrate their traditions and honor their heritage as well as our own?   If you are planning on teaching a unit on this and would like to supplement the SS unit with a set of writing centers – here it is!
Children of the World Christmas

Inside, you will find writing center pages (1 each) for each of these countries (and 1 continent):

Africa
Brazil
Canada
China
France
Holland
Italy
Japan
India
Mexico
Russia
Spain
Each writing printable comes with a beautiful cover page that students can decorate. The writing prompts are geared towards kindness and caring. Add to your multicultural studies by celebrating festivals.

Do you remember the CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE series many years ago?  Kids loved that so much I thought I would put a twist on that and have students choose their own Santa adventure.  Boys love that!  Santa’s Secret Surprise is a fun little writing activity that reviews story elements first then students can choose what they want to happen next and then add the details.  It comes with a coloring sheet. FUN!   This set of Christmas printables is just in time for your Christmas writing. (CCSS friendly)

Santa's Secret Surprise writing

It comes with 6 posters to post in your 6 writing centers with a writing idea for each center. Writing Center ideas include:

*Personal Writing: Opinion (2)
* Narrative writing
* Poetry
* How to: step by step description
*Christmas book retelling

In addition, this pack comes with 6 black and white reproducible interlined writing sheets for students to use and a cute polar bear to color on each page.

One of my most popular sets is my THOUGHTFUL CHRISTMAS WRITING PROMPTS FOR CARING KIDS.

Thoughtful Christmas Writing Prompts

Christmas Writing
This set of Christmas printables is just what you need to inspire your learners to write from the heart. Christmas is more than just teaching students about giving, it is about the giving of yourself and your thoughtful actions. Included in this pack are 7 printables that are thought provoking ideas about what they can do at this beautiful time of year to make someone else’s life better. It also includes a prompt for recalling fond memories of a previous Christmas. There is also a small space at the bottom for students to draw.
The last one is a letter simply titled: Dear Santa. While this may seem a little redundant to typical Christmas activities, I use this as a little assessment piece to see if students have truly understood the social learning aspect of this writing theme and whether they will include a wish for someone else.

If you would like a bundle to save money, I just bundled these 3 items for you:

Get ready for Christmas now and you’ll thank yourself later. 🙂
