Fire Safety Week is an important week for students to learn important lessons to keep them safe.
Why Fire Safety is Important
Being married to a firefighter myself, I am very aware of how important teaching these lessons is to our students and our own children. When children are aware of their surroundings and are taught important safety lessons, it gives them the confidence to know just what to do in the event of an emergency.
Fire Safety Lap Book
Clear and simple learning about fire safety is important. I have taken all the important safety lessons and put them together so that all students can access the learning. The fire safety lessons in this lap book resource set begin with general safety tips on fire safety and include a mini poster to help you discuss with your students.
Students will use the provided images as prompts to write fire safety tips underneath. A meeting place outside is very important so use this section to ensure students understand what a meeting place is and why we have one. (Firefighters will know that everyone made it out safe or that they need to go back in to find someone.) The other side of the lap book (shown here on the right) includes tools for firefighters. Students label the tools underneath or write about how they are used. There is a picture of a firetruck that students can color.

Planning an Escape Route
Your students will learn to recognize places in their homes. They will then develop a drawing of the inside of their home with 2 possible escape routes.
